ISBN is a musical collection and catalogue of the thirty-eight books on my shelf at university.
To create the music I took all the ISBN codes from my bookshelf and applied the numbers to a musical scale. After translating each code into a piece of guitar tablature I played them on the guitar and recorded the music on to a CD. Each CD case was printed with the ISBN code, title of the book, and on the reverse side its guitar tablature.
The musical scale E-minor was numbered 0-12 and then matched to the ISBN number of each book. This way of creating short tunes can be applied to almost any numerical code, including barcodes and phone numbers.
